Bear Man of Admiralty Island: A Biography of Allen E. Hasselborg is the story of a young man who came to Alaska to seek his fortune, and found his destiny. Hasselborg (1876-1956) became a prospector, miner, boat builder, trapper, fisherman, guide and homesteader but his greatest skill was that of a bear hunter. His love of hunting turned to a love of the land and he could no longer kill the majestic animals that ruled his wilderness. He became an inspiration to conservationists, a self-taught naturalist who made significant contributions to the scientific knowledge of bears.
